The robot shown is the first generation of a platform that would autonomously go through a row crop field and would locate weeds and spray weed killer on the plant. This was an SBIR effort that was performed by Concurrent Solutions, LLC and Edwards Design and Fabrication, Inc. designed and built the mechanical hardware including the drive gear/motor combination. Concurrent Solutions, LLC provided the control system. The last picture shows the second version of the robot platform, and it contained a number of improvements including 4 wheel steering; the robot could turn around in its own footprint.
